Hey I’m Sophie! I love American literature and books based on a true story. I also love food and reading about food, but that’s another matter.

Jack Kerouac’s On the Road is what started my obsession with the theme of freedom and American books from the mid-to-late twentieth century. This can include anything from Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest to Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

However I can also get stuck into more modern stuff. I recently read The Girl on the Train by  Paula Hawkins which I could not put down and Room by Emma Donoghue (read my review here) which was equally gripping. If I want an easy read then I will pick up anything by Lisa Jewell, her stories are full of twists and turns but also romance and happy endings.

Ultimately I don’t have a favourite book, I usually love every book I read. I love books that stay with you and make you want to know more about the topic or make you question things.
