A Street Cat Named Bob is an autobiographic book written by James Bowen, about his struggles living on the streets and how he met Bob, a cat who helped to change his life around. The book has now been adapted into a film.
The film is being released today, November 4th, in UK cinemas and on the November 18th in the US. Starring Luke Treadway as James Bowen and Bob the cat as himself, the story is based on the best-selling book of the same name.
The story follows James Bowen, a homeless heroin addict who enrols on a methadone programme and is then moved into a housing programme.
He beings busking on the streets of London and finds injured cat Bob. James nursed Bob back to health and then unofficially adopting him.
James and Bob were approached by a publisher who wanted to tell their story to the world. After A Street Cat Named Bob became such a big hit, they continued to publish six more titles, including The World According to Bob and Bob to the Rescue.
